Lifeguard Class
Participants gain the knowledge and skills needed to be a lifeguard in various environments. The course covers safety skills such as spinal injury management, handling severe weather, water dangers, legal responsibilities, pool management and employment. 100% attendance is required.
Prerequisites: *Must be at least 15 years old by the last day of the course; Swim 300 yds continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing; Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40, swim 20 yds, surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 ft to retrieve a 10 lb object, surface and swim 20 yds on back with both hands holding object, exit water without using a ladder or steps.

Members $175-Non-Members $200 fees include lifeguard book and CPR mask.

Prerequisites: *Please go to redcross.org/refreshers and choose the lifeguarding refresher before attending the recert. Will also need to bring your CPR mask, suit and towel. Please sign-up and pay for all classes in advance at the YMCA.
Lifeguard Recert classes: Members $60-Non-Members $75.
